RECOM – WE POWER YOUR PRODUCTS

Hello, my name is Steve Roberts from RECOM Lighting, and I want to talk to you today about digital lighting — and especially DALI. DALI stands for Digital Addressable Lighting Interface, and it is a worldwide standard used for wired control of lighting.

RECOM has developed two products to support the DALI system. The first product that RECOM has developed is a DALI bus power supply. This is a special power supply that has been certified by DALI to be used in DALI systems to provide the power supply for the network.

The second product that RECOM has developed is a DALI converter. This converts the DALI digital signal into analog output — for example, PWM, or 0–10V, or 1–10V control signal. It also contains a relay so you can turn the LED light on and off.

To demonstrate how DALI works, we've built a doll’s house with lighting. The lighting is all digitally controlled, and you can control it either with normal switches — here you can see I can turn the lights on and off, or I can dim — these are standard light switches.

But because DALI is digital, we can also use a smartphone to control the lighting in the house. With the smartphone, I can turn the whole lighting on and off with a simple touch on the screen, and I can also individually dim the lighting. For example, here on the outdoor lighting, I can control the brightness from my phone.
