In recent decades, power supply controllers have significantly evolved due to advanced packaging techniques, which integrate the power FETs inside the controller IC. Advances in manufacturing techniques, such as flip-chip-on-lead-frame packaging with embedded passives, have also reduced the overall converter size by 60%.

Further advances in magnetics technology, from wire wound toroids to pressed powdered iron SMD chip inductors, have pushed power density even higher. These manufacturing revolutions have allowed RECOM to dramatically reduce power module sizes while simultaneously increasing power density.

RECOM’s brand-new RPX series is a complete, integrated power supply in a sub-miniature QFN package, with an input voltage of up to 36V and output currents of 1A, 1.5A, and 2.5A.
