THT & Wired Switching Regulators

Switching regulators are high power density, compact voltage regulators with high efficiencies of up to 97%. The R78 series is a 3-pin THT pin-compatible replacement for the classic 78xx series linear regulators. This popular series provides a drop-in replacement for TO-220 regulators, allowing the efficiency of legacy power supply boards to be upgraded from around 60% to well over 90% without needing to re-spin the circuit board or fit a heatsink.

Unlike linear regulators that waste power as heat, these modules provide a cooler, more efficient solution ideal for upgrading legacy industrial controls or extending the operational life of battery-powered systems. The simple drop-in nature requires no external components for basic operation, making the transition seamless. The wired versions are designed to be used to provide local, regulated, and short-circuit-proof power supplies without requiring any external components or even a circuit board.
